What do my Mom and Gogol Bordello have in common?

"Gogol Bordello encouraged people to ‘start wearing purple’ in their
2006 novelty hit of the same name.

Why not? It’s a great colour that looks good on almost anyone.

And the organizers of the third-annual Purple Aster Concert & Silent
Auction Fundraiser are hoping to see all shades of mauve, mulberry,
lavender, plum, periwinkle, violet and wine at this year’s event.

Founded in memory of Calgarian Alison Laird, the Purple Aster Concert
raises funds for The Chordoma Foundation, to support research for a
cure of this rare, but deadly form of spinal cancer.

The event takes place at the Loose Moose Theatre, 1235 – 26 Ave. S.E.
(in the Calgary Cross Roads Market), on Sunday starting at 6 p.m. Live
music will be supplied by harmony trio the Travelling Mabels,
singer-songwriter Carolyn Harley, internationally known Calgary
bluesman Tim Williams and more.

Advance tickets are $25, or $30 at the door. For more information, go

I sound like Bernard Purdie when I play the drums ...

 When no one is listening anyway. This video seriously makes me want to
do nothing but play drums all day so I can have as much skill on the
hi-hat. I'm not sure I have enough time left to get to any of the
other parts of the kit.
